You Would Have if You Could Have

The truth is, if you could have done it, you would have. No more blaming yourself for all the things you haven’t done in life. No more blaming yourself for the things you didn’t say years ago. For the graduations, parties, weddings, and funerals you’ve missed. For the fun you didn’t have. For the work experience you just didn’t get. For the education that didn’t seem to stick. For all of the lost relationships. For the adventures and jokes you only heard about later. For the lost “opportunities of a lifetime”. You weren’t ready and you couldn’t have acted any differently in the moment. It’s time to forgive yourself. You would have done things so differently, if only you could.
