Last Thanksgiving, my grandmother was dying. I was certainly not in the holiday spirit, but being with family on the holiday made it easier.
That said, there are so many other reasons why you might not be feeling in the holiday spirit. Grief, finances, relationship troubles, mental illness, distance, job situations, and life in general may get in the way of feeling excited about a holiday. We may be alone without family or friends today. There is no rule that says you need to be happy today. However you are feeling is okay. It’s okay if you’re not in the holiday spirit. Take care of yourself today.
