It’s Okay to Want to Go Back

its okay to want to go back but know youre not going that way

This time of year always has me feeling nostalgic for challenging times in my life. Sometimes I think about wanting to go back to when it was easier. When I could focus on simply surviving rather than worry about all the stressful tasks I had to accomplish.
I may sometimes want to go back to these times when I was sick, but I know I’m not going that way. It’s okay to miss the things that hurt. That’s part of being human. We may miss our illness, our addiction, another person, or a living situation. We know going back to that thing would hurt us, but still we think about going back. But it’s just a thought and that does not mean we have to act on it.
We can want to go back to the things that are bad for us, and also choose to go the other way.
