Full Recovery From an Eating Disorder is Possible

full recovery from an eating disorder is possible 2

When you’re diagnosed with an eating disorder that means you’re going to have a messed up relationship with food and body image for the rest of your life, right?

Nope!

But won’t I always be “in recovery”?

Nope!

Full recovery from an eating disorder is possible. That means no using behaviors on occasion when you’re stressed out, no going on diets to lose just a few pounds “the healthy way”, no obsessing over your size or shape.

It’s about having the freedom to eat whatever makes you feel your best emotionally and physically most of the time. It’s about making choices in the interest of self care. It’s about feeling like your body is right exactly as it is.

Of course, there’s a million barriers to full recovery. Finances, insurance issues, chronic illness, gender dysphoria, racism, sexism, fat phobia, etc. But with the right support it IS possible.

It’s the start of National Eating Disorder Awareness week and I’ll be sharing facts, stats, and other tidbits all week. Stay tuned!
