Popular diets eliminate or reduce carbohydrates in the diet in an attempt to lose weight. These diets may work short term and produce the quick results people are looking for, but long term studies do not support the use of these diets for long term weight loss results. With weight loss off the table, would you still want to restrict carbohydrates from your diet? Carbohydrates are found in fruits and some vegetables, dairy products, and whole grains (amongst other places). Do you want to eliminate all of these foods? What if you “slip up” and eat a cookie while you’re on a low-carb diet? Will you then secretly binge on the rest of the box of cookies and call yourself “addicted to sugar”? With the mindset that you’re addicted to sugar, you’ll likely repeat the cycle of restrict, binge, repent, and repeat over and over.
