Thanksgiving is just a few days away here in America and several other holidays are coming up in the next month. If we’re being honest, this time of year can be hard for people in recovery from anything, but especially in recovery from an eating disorder or chronic dieting.
Sometimes when you’re stressed, it’s easier just not to eat, but that’s exactly what you need to do when you’re stressed! Eating consistently throughout the day will help keep your blood sugar levels stable, keep your hormones in check, and help stave off “hangry” feelings.
Food is not something we need to earn by working out or “being good”. Food is fuel and essential to life. Food is a basic human need. By saying we need to “earn” food, that essentially says when we do not work out that day, we should not be allowed to eat. Yikes!
Expensive water which claims to solve all of your problems? Probably a good idea to pass on that!
Just dropping this here for whoever needs this reminder as all the November weight loss challenges pop up. Do them if you want, but know that it’s not going to heal your relationship with food and it might make navigating food at the winter holidays even more challenging.
You’re not good for restricting Halloween candy and you’re not bad for eating it.
Please stop commenting on how much candy people eat one way or the other.
