Some ailments and illnesses absolutely can be cured or managed by eliminating certain foods from the diet. And by eliminating these foods, if quality of life is improved, then you should absolutely stick with it.
However, the problem arises when people find relief with eliminating one food and then decide to eliminate 5 others. It’s when eliminating these foods causes more distress than simply taking a medication for the ailment. It’s when you want to eliminate more foods simply because you have an occasional ache or a headache. We’re not going to feel 100% all the time, especially as we age. And by whittling down the amount of allowed food items, you’re not going to escape death.
So if you’re looking to start an elimination diet or have already done one, be mindful of if your quality of life has actually improved or if you might be better off adding some foods back into the diet. Consider consulting with a registered dietitian nutritionist to address these concerns so that you can feel your best both physically and mentally.
