Anger can be a safe feeling. It doesn’t always need to lead to yelling, aggressiveness, hitting, or eating. It can lead to healing. It’s okay to get angry, and it’s often necessary.
There are so many shades of gray in between black and white, so don’t just limit yourself to the two colors.
To anyone struggling with anxiety right now: I know right now you feel like you’re going to die. I know you can’t imagine that your heart is going to still beat after this. But it will.
You can be the fastest runner, but in the end, you cannot out run your feelings because you can’t keep running forever.
No amount of food will ever fill the gaping void inside of you when it stems from discontent, anger, loneliness, boredom, sadness, frustration, etc. Deal with the feelings. Get your needs met. Food is not the answer to all of life’s problems.
We often turn to maladaptive coping behaviors in order to anesthetize painful feelings. That’s where things like drugs, eating disorders, self harm, alcohol, etc. come into play.
